Sweet Deliverance NYC – Ground Cherry Jam

2011 Good Food Awards Preserves Winner

Kelly Geary began Sweet Deliverance as a CSA and meal delivery program. In the spring and winter, she taught canning classes which fostered a jam-following. All of the ingredients in the Ground Cherry Jam are sourced from Lancaster and are organic, although not all are certified. Maintaining a close connection to the farming community forms a central tenet to Sweet Deliverance. The cherry farmer has visited the kitchen to see Kelly transform the fruit into a luscious jam. Kelly laments the fact that the US pays less for food than any other country. She wants to make good food available to all. Kelly hopes to see an increase in responsibly farmed fruits, adequate treatment of works, as well as an increase in viable food producers, such as herself, dedicated to quality and sustainability.
