Chuck Siegel is a true enthusiast; he started Charles Chocolates as his second chocolate company in 2004, after taking time to be a business consultant for small chocolate companies. For his Sweet Salty Cashew Bar, he sources his chocolate from El Rey Chocolates. El Rey uses 100% single origin cacao from small plantations in Venezuela. The cacao trees are decades old and grown without the inputs of synthetic herbicides and pesticides to maintain the highest quality beans. Charles Chocolates uses local organic milk and eggs to complement the high-quality El Rey chocolate. Chuck thinks that the current emphasis on using well-sourced, sustainably grown beans, which are blended and roasted for exceptional taste, combined with a growing consumer education will continue to fuel progress in the industry.
